So, now four months later.... we are almost ready to leave. A lot has happened and often I have been so busy that the blog was the last thing on my list. We had some wonderful, some very annoying and some very funny encounters and I wanted to share some of them with you.
Q: So, you have a job in New York. Great. Are you moving there?
A: ehm, well, yes, I think so.
Q: New York, awesome! I assume you are moving. Is your Family joining you?
A: Oh no, Paula and Joerg will move to Australia.
Q: New York! OMG, it is difficult with the crisis and all, so I believe that sometimes you will have to move for work.
A: You are so right, it is really awful. I mean, it being New York after all.
Q: I heard you have a job in New York. Well, these days, you really have to be happy if you are being offered a job.
A: Yeah, you know, it is United Nations, they offer Jobs to everybody.
And then there is the unpredictable stuff, like
Q: How many clerks does it take to print a University attendance certificate?
A: At least seven, but you may wish to have a draft with you.
Q: Have you been to New York for some orientation yet?
A: No, we haven't really had time but we plan on going about 2 weeks before I have to work.
Q: Have you found a house yet?
A: Yes, of course, we looked at this webpage, picked one (the one with the best Quality photos) and rented it on the spot.
I think you got the idea. Yes, I made up the answers but the questions are real - I was just too shocked to react.
